Hi Cobirders, Been busy with my other hobbies. Here are highlight of
birding at home.
Monday Nov. 4 Flock of Red-winged Blackbirds came in afternoon to the
drum feeder. (FOS)
1 House Finch male with white top of
head and rump. May be same one that came here Jan 2012
Also may be same one showing up at Red
Rocks ( knows where to look for seed!)
Tuesday Nov.5 Windy cool but dry and sunny here. Adult Red-winged
Blackbird came yesterday with the flock but stayed in Chokecherry
Certain it was immature that stayed
Oct. to Mar. with the sparrows. It learned to circle the bottom of
the cage feeder on the outside.
(too big to get in) also uses feeder
near the chokecherry.
Western Scrub Jay came to Chokecherry
( possibly the immature that came last fall.
One or two Bluejays come every day.
Wed. Nov.6 Windy
Thursday Nov, 7 Downy Woodpecker male (Red on back of head), Checked
out the Chokecherry and Trumpet Vine.
Friday Nov. 8 Black-billed Magpie seldom comes to the yard,
today was feeding on the ground under the Russian Olive seemed to eat
olive seeds blown off by the wind.
Ecodoves below the thistle feeder
searched for the tiny seeds a lot blown out by the wind also.
Saturday Nov 9 Large Buteo chased two Ecodoves one turned left and
the other right and hawk went straight. Twenty minutes saw it came back
possible Red-tail.
Enjoy all the posts as I know lot of the birders, the birds they see
and most of the places they go.
