to Colorado Birds
The Fort Collins Audubon hosted their monthly bird walk at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area this morning; rescheduled to avoid tomorrow's snow storm. The highlight among the thirty four species was a juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. This bird provided good views as it foraged among some freshly drilled sap holes. We also had eastern and mountain bluebirds and lots of creepers, ruby-crowned kinglets, yellow-rumped warblers and four hermit thrush. While on the trail we heard that Josh B had located Surf Scoters on Rigden Reservoir. A visit to the reservoir in the afternoon presented 3 SUSC and one Palm Warbler. The PAWA was foraging along the shoreline just north of the pump house on the reservoir. Juncos are also returning, with Oregon DEJU visiting my backyard upon arriving home.
