This morning, we had six
Evening Grosbeaks that were eating Washington Hawthorne berries in the backyard. They seemed to totally ignore the platform feeder loaded with sunflower seed a few feet away. We also had a Townsend's Solitaire feasting on the ripe berries. Unfortunately, it won't be long before the House Finches, Robins, and squirrels strip the tree of these bird friendly berries! Also, we have 4 Western Scrub Jays battling our Blue Jays for the morning peanuts. We usually have lots of Blue Jays and only one Scrub Jay that sporadically visits the yard. This year no nuthatches, siskens , and very few goldfinches. We do have our breeding pair of Mountain Chickadees..
