When separating young Little Blue Herons from Snowy Egrets, it is important to note that leg and feet color are not absolutely reliable. Young snowies can still have pale legs and a pale bill this time of year. Little Blues can often retain dusky feathering also. Little Blues should have greenish legs, not black. Often best to leave them as snowies unless you are certain.
