Hey COBirders,

After two days missed for steady rain at Clear Spring Ranch, today was still wet, but just foggy and misty, and banding resumed.  Many Wilson’s and Orange-crowned Warblers were caught at dawn, and a mix of other migrants. None rare, many unusual. Then after a lull, another wave arrived about 10:30, composed mostly of Spizella sp., RC Kinglets, White-crowned Sparrows, Warbling Vireo, and a very late Lazuli Bunting (HY, F). 90 birds banded today.

Warbling Vireo
Mountain Chickadee (2 more - now 7, I had never had ANY previously!)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 2
Orange-crowned Warbler 9
Audubon’s YR Warbler
Wilson’s Warbler, 17
Chipping Sparrow, 32
Brewer’s Sparrow, 2
Clay-colored Sparrow, 5
Vesper Sparrow
Gambell’s WC Sparrow, 7
Mountain WC Sparrow (FOS)
Song Sparrow, 3
Lincolns Sparrow, 3
Spotted Towhee, 3
Lazuli Bunting

A pretty good mix. The low ceiling continued all morning, with a light SW breeze.I was still catching some birds at 1245, but was getting pretty tired by that point. Tomorrow….

Happy Migration,
Steve Brown
