A pretty crazy day, with lots of visitors, changing weather, and a variety of species and returns from prior seasons.  The highlight for the day was 6 Bullock's Orioles, including 4 at the same time and 2 that had been banded in previous years.  Also, 2 more Yellow Warblers that qualify for our Longevity Chart - 1 banded in 2014 and 1 in 2013.  Here's the breakdown of the 40 new birds for the day:

Western Wood-pewee 1
Dusky Flycatcher 3
Willow Flycatcher 1 (FOS)
Gray Catbird 3 new, 1 banded 2017
Yellow Warbler 5 new, 1 banded each 2013, 14, and 15, 3 banded 2017
Common Yellowthroat 3
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Spotted Towhee 2
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Song Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 5
Brown-headed Cowbird 1
Bullock's Oriole 4 new, 1 banded 2016, 1 banded 2017

We will be open daily, WEATHER PERMITTING, through May 31, except for Memorial Day. We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy. Registration is required for all weekend visitors; see the Denver Audubon website to sign up. Individuals may visit weekdays without registering before the school groups arrive, which is usually around 10 a.m.

Come visit!
