Calliope Humm - El Paso, Jeffco, Douglas

Douglas: We saw a male Calliope Hummingbird at our feeder yesterday and again today.

That spurs me to mention two other observations people have mentioned to me.

El Paso: Alex Finta sent a picture of a male Calliope that he took in Woodland Park on July 4.
Jeffco: Bob Rozinski saw at least two at feeders at a house near Genesee Mtn.

I was delighted to have my 1st Calliope of the season visit my home feeders in Ken Caryl Valley JeffCo on July 11, and also had one in El Paso at Crowe Gulch Picnic Area along the Pike's Peak Toll Road that day. I had one in Park County at NF Road 211 on July 1.

At St. Mary's in Littleton (Arapahoe) today I heard a Red-breasted Nuthatch (my first in Littleton since May 22), and two Ospreys perched atop tall light standards at the ball fields there were my first in the southern Metro area since spring migrants. One or more Pine Siskins have been around the church area for the past several days, which eBird has flagged as rare for Arapahope County at this time of year.

Only broad-t hummer here so far...all summer, daily

 

The imm spotted towhees are on my feeder daily
