Greetings All
So, yesterday I finished with 122 species just birding Crow Valley, Eaton Cemetery and Stewarts' Pond/Latham/Beebe Draw and finishing my day at 3:30. 130 would have been pretty easy to attain.
And this was with only 4 warbler and 1 vireo species.
It shows what this region can produce, without a mountain.
Stewarts' Pond was stuffed with ducks, the best being 2 female Greater Scaup dwarfing the male (and female) Lessers nearby.
The area along Weld CR 48 just s. of Lower Latham Res had a plethora of ponds, but the birds were almost entirely at their usual spot.
This included 30 or so Willets, a Marbled Godwit, a Whimbrel and a WR Sandpiper. There was a group of 20 WF Ibis with 1 Glossy.
Similarly, Beebe Draw was a wetland wonderland, but nearly all the birds were at the usual spots. Weld CR 40 was the really good one with >100 LB Dowitchers (could not string one into a SB Dow no matter how hard I tried), a BB Plover, a Stilt Sandpiper and 200 or WF Ibis with 3 Glossy, 1 Glossy x WF Ibis, and 2 ibis that were either hybrids or Glossy (still need to review my photos). Also, present was nice breeding-plumage Herring Gull.
Good Birding
