This afternoon, Steve Miller and I checked out South Platte Reservoir.  We had great views of 2 Trumpeter Swans, 3 Long-tailed Ducks( I'm guessing these are the guys from Chatfield), and good numbers of other waterfowl.  We were unable to locate the previously reported White-winged Scoter.  With most lakes in the area frozen from the recent cold snap, this is an area that should be checked in the next few days.  Photos of the Trumpeter Swans can be seen below:

I stopped in by chance at South Platte Reservoir at the very tail end of the day at the tail end of errands and saw the 2 Trumpeter Swans, but missed the Long-tailed Ducks. They may still have been there, but the light was failing and I was cold! Among a growing group of gulls assembling at the reservoir there were 1 adult Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1 first cycle Thayer's Gull. Two Bald Eagles passed over, and a third was perched in the distance.
