Spring is sprung
The grass is ris'
I wonder where
The birdies is

Hello, Birders.

Just a moment ago (Sat., Mar. 29), I stepped outside the house (Lafayette, Boulder County), and heard the sweet whistling of a Say's Phoebe and the rich, nasal cries of northbound Franklin's Gulls (n=9, visual). And yesterday afternoon, Fri., 3/28, a Bushtit was singing on the west edge of Greenlee Preserve. The briars and tangles there look good for nesting, and I wonder if there will soon be a large, gray tube-sock hanging from deep within the shrubbery.

Hi, all. Just a quick update.

Hannah and I were out at Greenlee Preserve (Boulder Co.) a few moments ago (Sat., 3/29), and we saw three FOS Blue-winged Teal (two drakes and a hen) poking around the mucky west end. Habitat there looks decent for shorebirds (same thing over at nearby Waneka Lake) in the weeks and months ahead.

No shorebirds yet at Greenlee Rez, but lots of Anseriformes: the aforementioned Blue-winged Teal, plus Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup, Redhead, shoveler, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, Am. Wigeon, Mallard, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, and big ole Moffitt's Canada Geese already nesting.
