to Colorado Birds
Hi all
While I was out on Raptor Alley this Saturday ran into Bill Fink at Nunn's gas station where he mentioned he had seen the rosies that morning (thanks, Bill). At top end of Raptor Alley I went over there and saw what I estimate as a flock of 70-80 birds flying around-they never did land around me and wound up in backyard of the residence (or beyond). Glad he saw the Varied Thrush I've missed her last 3-4 days coming and going.
Raptor Alley morning (total: 37 birds):
American Kestrel - 11
Red-tailed Hawk - 6
Bald Eagle - 3
Rough-legged Hawk - 6 (one dark)
Ferruginous Hawk - 4 (one dark on his favorite telephone pole)
Northern Harrier - 1
Prairie Falcon - 3
UNID - 2 (way off in distance)
Golden Eagle - 1
Missed: Merlin(s)
Other birds over weekend:
Wild Turkey - 20 Cozzens Lake/Eaton, usually on west end of lake though one day few on road and alongside of it
Large flocks of geese (Cackling, Canada, Greater White-fronted and Snow) continue at Windsor Reservoir and along O Street gravel ponds (west end)/Greeley
Mute Swan - 3 continue along F Street/Greeley
Hooded Merganser (about a dozen) very reliable at gravel pit north side of Linn Grove Cemetery/Greeley
