Whimbrel at Smith Reservoir

Today I got excellent looks at a Whimbrel on the south shore of Smith Reservoir, Costilla County. It was near the dam near the boat launch. There are only a handful of records for the species in the San Luis Valley, and not surprising, most of them occur around mid-May.
