Hey COBirders,
I was expecting very little this morning, at Clear Spring Ranch banding, due to the Birdcast prediction for a low migration night, but did surprisingly well considering the heat and stagnant air pattern.
I watched a wave of yellow arrive in the thick willows about 7:40, and caught a good variety of warblers. No unusual or unexpected species, just nice to see. 22 birds banded this morning, after low days of 12 and 14 birds. Wilson’s Warblers have been half of the catch all week.
Banded today:
W Wood-pewee
Red-breasted Nuthatch (#3 this week - fall is officially here)
N Waterthrush 2, (#12-13 this season)
FOS Orange-crowned Warbler
Yellow Warbler 2 (120 this season)
Wilson’s Warbler 10
and the usual - House Wren, YB Chat, and Gray Catbird
No parrots seen - but to the Parrotheads - Rest well and thanks, Jimmy.
Good birding,
Steve Brown
