Amazingly, I just had a stub-tailed wren in my front yard in Niwot that startled me when I opened my front door to look for the paper! It then flew into a mass of brambles along the side of my house. I’m leaning towards a Winter Wren based on a chip note I heard two minutes later that sounded like a Red Crossbill type “cluck cluck”
