COBirders,

A golden swamp warbler was caught and banded at the Bird Conservatory of the Rockies/Chico Basin Ranch banding station in El Paso County (fee area). It was captured inside the exclosure in the net lane closest to the large willow by a small spring.

Also caught was a male Red-naped Sapsucker and a Cassin’s Vireo was fussing in the wooded area. Junco, Song Sparrow, and White-crowned Sparrow numbers were on the rise. Hermit and Swainson’s thrushes were banded.

We actually banded that Cassin's Vireo after you left, Bill. Also banded was a handsome male Red-shafted Flicker, one of two flickers seen today. Orange-crowned Warblers are also starting to arrive in good numbers as well as Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Holmes Grove was full of birds in the afternoon and the Prothonotary Warbler was sighted there again around 3pm.
