I did the infamous "mountain lakes loop" today.
Eleven Mile Reservoir - completely open
Pacific Loon - 1
Lots of ducks
Spinney Mountain Reservoir - mostly open (~5% frozen)
Common Loon - 1
Red-necked Grebe - 1
Long-tailed Duck - 1 adult male - BEAUTIFUL plumage!
Bufflehead - thousands
Antero Reservoir - didn't stop as it is completely frozen
Ice Pond - Buena Vista - small waterhole
Barrow's Goldeneye - 3
Clear Creek Lake - one TINY waterhole
Hopefully the birds in the waterhole can keep it open. If not, the two
Western Grebes, Ruddy Ducks, etc. will...
Twin Lakes - completely open
A variety of waterbirds, nothing notable.
Mount Elbert Forebay - completely open
Surf Scoter - 1 likely the same bird seen there for the past 4 weeks.
Turquoise Lake - completely open
No birds.
Dillon Reservoir - completely open
Nothing notable
Blue River Wastewater Treatment - Obviously open
Barrow's Goldeneye - 2 females
Ring-necked Duck - lots
