I joined this group to reconnect with the local government GIS community.  We are in the preliminary stages of rebuilding/rebranding a regional GIS hub in the San Luis Valley, and supporting our 911 comm center and responders will most likely be a part of that. Just wanting to listen in for a bit.  Thank you.

Welcome, Craig! This group isn't highly active right now, but it is a great group of GIS professionals so feel free to use it to ask questions or get advice. Matt Goetsch (mgoe...@metsa911.org) is the chair.

Welcome Craig -

Are you taking over from Barney and Caitlin's interim efforts for carrying on Pete's work?

This email group is not nearly as active as the GISCO listserv.  Efforts are focused on helping folks find resources for learning about NG9-1-1 GIS, because each local 9-1-1 authority will be responsible for providing, or causing to be provided, the requisite emergency service grade data.

In addition to the PUC 9-1-1 Program's 2025 webinar series being focused on GIS for NG9-1-1, the committee web page has a folder of 9-1-1 GIS documents.  If needed, a few key NENA standards and guides include:
  • GIS Data Transition Information Document; a guide for establishing GIS for 9-1-1 and NG9-1-1
  • Synchronizing GIS with [9-1-1] MSAG & ALI; local stakeholders should standardize and align these data prior to CO's migration to GIS-based 9-1-1 call routing
  • NG9-1-1 US Civic Location Data Exchange Format (CLDXF-US) Standard; based on the IETF's PIDF-LO, and is the basis for the Data Model
  • Standard for NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model v2, and associated template feature classes; v3 and templates will likely be published this summer
  • Information Document for [ongoing] GIS Data Stewardship for NG9-1-1

Best,

Matt Goetsch, Director, 970-240-1458, mgoe...@metsa911.org
