PyClaw to simulate rotating detonation engines

Hello everybody,

I recently discovered PyClaw while reading a research paper. I want to learn and use it to simulate rotating detonation engines and obtain data for further processing.
First, is this possible?
Second, I seem to be struggling a little bit. I read through the documentation, but still couldn't get a firm grasp on how to initiate and proceed.
I would greatly appreciate any help with resources out there concerning this topic.

PS: Can PyClaw run in Google Colab?

Hi Kofi,

Can you detail a bit as to what a rotating detonation engine is?  Would it be something you would use the compressible Euler equations for in a rotating reference frame?

Rotating detonation engine is a new propulsion engine with a circular combustion chamber where you inject a fuel and an oxidizer (eg. MMH/RFNA propellants) and ignite for propulsion or energy generation purposes. 

Yes, compressible Euler equations can be used.

I am not familiar with the example you are trying to setup, but I would start by looking at least at the 2D examples for the Euler equations.  There are other examples that could for instance be a starting point for setting up an axis-symmetric problem.

I am afraid I am not sure about google colab.  I have used a Jupyter Hub many times to do pyclaw/clawpack simulations though in the past.
