Call-for-Proposals: Bachxing Day 2025

Greeting fellow Rev’ers, 

Call for Performers

Classical Revolution PDX is inviting musicians to perform at our 15th annual Bachxing Day celebration on December 26, 2025 at Artichoke Music in SE Portland at 7:00 PM. This will be a concert of "any Bach, any instrumentation, any interpretation!" We will be assembling a fun program featuring small ensembles and soloists who wish to perform their favorite Bach-related pieces. If there is enough interest we may also organize a large ensemble piece to end the program with (see below). 

When: Friday, December 26th, 2025, 7–9 PM. Call time will be 6:30 PM. 

Where: Artichoke Music - 2007 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR

Audience: This will be a ticketed event, live streamed, and posted on YouTube. 

How to participate

This is a community-driven, volunteer concert meant to be fun and relaxed. We want everyone to have a great time whether you come to play, sing, or just listen.

Please send the following information to cre...@gmail.com by Sunday, November 23, 2025:

1. Name, instrument/voice, and piece. Acts should be 5–15 minutes. Please list any collaborators and their instruments, or tell us if you would like help finding additional musicians. We will also have a thread on our Google Group to help performers find each other.

2. Indicate if you would like to participate in the large ensemble as well (rehearsal attendance will be required, dates/times TBD).

3. A video and/or statement of performance experience.

Classical Revolution PDF is seeking ushers to assist with the logistics of the concert. If you’re not interested in playing, but wish to help usher, please let us know.

If this is a ticketed event, especially with prices as high as $30, do musicians get a share in ticket revenue?

I'm assuming that the ticket fee is to pay for the rental of the venue. Not that I know the details, but that's my guess!

Good question, no Bachxing Day is not a paid event. Classical Revolution is currently planning our next paid showcase.

Thanks, Daniel, for your question. There are several factors involved in the ticket price (market rate/inflation (still far above our price), venue agreement requirements, a fundraising aspect of this event for our paid November 2026 event), and we are actually working on the issue of ticket discounts for this event. Stay tuned, we’ll message the googlegroup. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
