List of All stations (both active and defunct)

Is there a way to get a csv of all bike stations ever created by Citibike, whether they are defunct or active?

One of the approaches would be:

• obtain all of the citibike trips data for a starting point in time, say, 01-01-2014 
• then, assuming that for every day there might be a new station coming up - you could simply filter out all unique "from" stations from the trips datafile. 
• Then you could list for every day those station lists which will show you some growth in amount of stations.

Regarding defunct/active - one might infer that indirectly from trips data. There is also a source (theopenbus.com) for station related data which has activity markers.

You can view this public API: https://layer.bicyclesharing.net/map/v1/nyc/stations

It lists all the stations. It is a real-time feed, however, so it doesn't have historical stations.

When I follow this link it's just a wall of data, not an api endpoint. I'm not sure how to incorporate this into some Python work I'm doing - does anyone have any tips?

When you visit the link in a web browser it will return a wall of data. It is an API endpoint, however, because the web browser is just executing a GET request and showing you the API Response. That being said, you're able to use Python's Requests package in your work.

Here's some sample python code:
