Hi all

Simple questions; does anybody know if this label machine works with champagne bottles?

Many thanks

Mark

Simple answer: Yes! Just set it up with regards label positioning & Go!
We have one & use it for 500ml & 750ml.

Do you consider the labelroo manual label machine to be about the best one?

Regards

"Best one" much depends on your budget & how much you are going to use it...?

If you are a small maker, (we bottled around 750 x 500ml in batches + 200 or so 750ml) such a machine makes sense.
So for us it's ideal.

If you want speed, have a budget to play with & bottle high numbers - look for a used electric machine or shop around for a new one.

NB: The only gripe most folk have with the Labelroo is unwinding / removing the backing paper from the machine after labelling...
We got round that by making up a dowel with a slot to grip the backing paper, then using a 12v electric drill/driver on slow speed with the dowel in the chuck to quickly rewind the backing paper onto the dowel, so it can be slipped off the dowel into the bin.
Doing by hand is laborious & frustrating.

Hope that helps?

Thanks Ray.  That makes a lot of sense.

I have a labelroo and its well made reliable accurate and stays in line well. I have a friend who has a cheap amazon type and it's not a patch on the labelroo it wanders a bit on long runs and isn't as solid, but as Ray says unwinding the used backing is a pain after a long run.

More on unwinding the label backing paper from the Labelroo: see images attached.
I actually used a short length of thick straight cane, fine sawcut to start followed by lengthening into a split with a penknife blade, just long enough to hold & grip the backing paper.
Remove the Labelroo handle.
Trap the backing paper in the slot, then tighten cane / dowel into the driver chuck.
At a slow speed on the "screwdriver" setting, wind up the backing paper.

Don't be tempted to go at high speed as friction could build up between the steel shaft & plastic body of the Labelroo.
A splash of silicone lubricant would perhaps help.

Worked for me.

Anyone ever able to get in touch with these folks? we are trying to get a set of spare "cogs" to make label swapping easier.
