I today discovered some residue on the trunk of my 6-year-old crab apple tree. When I inspected it further it was a clump of wood dust.I cleared this away to find a bore hole about 3-4mm in diameter.I am a little concerned as to what type of wood boring insect this might be and how much damage it could cause. If it turns out to be an isolated case fair enough but I worry whether my younger trees could also become affected.Any help much appreciated, never experienced anything like this before. I'm in North Somerset, UK.
