We are implementing 1:1 Chromebooks and are looking for graphing calculator apps or sites that could replace the current TI-84 that we require students to purchase. Suggestions?

Try Desmos:  https://www.desmos.com/calculator

Has Google Apps single sign-on and it allow students to save their work to Drive.

Thanks Ryan! I have a couple of math teachers looking at this. Looks like a strong option.

Might also want to check out GeoGebra:  http://www.geogebra.org/cms/en/

Don't they need a calculator for testing and whatnot?  I've always WANTED my students to have their own calculators that they're used to.

That rant aside, desmos and geogebra area great for graphing but not much more (some really cool interactive graphing options).  Not to take away from them but definitely not a TI-84 alternative.

WolframAlpha actually can solve equations and graph them - http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D3x%5E2-4
Google can actually graph and solve some basic math
http://web2.0calc.com/ is nice online calculator as well

Just wondering if anyone has found a good graphing calculator yet?  The two options previously given do not work as a graphing calculator they will only show a graph.  We need something more consistent to a hand held graphing calculator for our students to work at home.

Unfortunately, we have not. However, our curriculum has changed and it is less of a pressing issue for us than it was with our previous curriculum.

Desmos works great for graphing, but that is all, we need something that can do the statistics, as well as other things done with a traditional graphing calculator.  So far Desmos is all we have found, but it does not do anything other than standard graphing.

A few students showed me the "wabbitemu" on their android phones. I haven't been able to try it as it isn't compatible with Mac.

they can also download it from the app store on their I phones for 4.99 much cheaper than a hand held calculator for use at home

I would be interested in any current apps for Chromebooks that support the TI-Nspire calculator or are similar.  Our teachers have used Desmos, but indicate that it does not do all that the Nspire can.  Unfortunately, TI does not
have a Nspire app for Chromebook available yet.

TI has made their graphing calculator extension on Chrome free to all for the year.  That is what my kids use.  Other than that, there is no close subsistute.
