Strange email problem

I had a weird email issue today.

I had a report of emails not being sent from my site when passwords were changed. I could not see any errors in the logs, but when I changed my own password ... sure enough - no email notification.

Email delivery was certainly working OK though, because I receive emails when users log into the site, and that was working fine. So it seems like only SOME emails were a problem.

So all that would seem to point to an application issue.

BUT ...

when I stopped and restarted the server, all was well again - which makes it seem like a server issue!

I confess I am puzzled.

Anyone else had similar behaviour, or any thoughts as to what may have caused it?

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the response.

I am not sure what else to provide - the function seemed to be working fine and SOME emails (from one part of the system) seemed to be going OK butt others not. There is nothing to be seen in the logs.

As I said, I have now 'fixed' the immediate problem by simply restarting the server, so I can not test it further, but if it recurs I will try and get some more details.
