Hi there

I am receiving this error message when I try to insert @ID lines in a new file I am formatting for transcription. I have tried inserting the @ID lines in multiple ways - e.g., by pressing esc then L at the end of the participant line and through the CLAN commands window. However, whichever way I use, I get the message: Error: Can't open language codes file "ISO-639".

I have followed instructions on previous posts - which has included checking that the language file (ISO-639) is present on my computer's drive within the Talkbank directory (it is).

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Dear Amber,
It is not quite enough that the file be on your machine.  It has to be in a place on your machine that matches where you are telling CLAN to search for it.  The crucial part here is that your LIB directory must be correct in order for CLAN to find the ISO-639.cut file.  Different people put CLAN in different places on their machines.  What is crucial is what it says next to the “LIB” button in the CLAN Commands window.  What does it say on your machine?

Dear Brian,
Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I have set the directory in the Commands window to match the location of the ISO file on my computer's drive. It is now working.
Best regards
Amber
