Hi,

How can I find more information about the comparison database the KidEval program uses? Specifically, I'm wondering which measures have normal distributions to see how informative it is to say "this child is x standard deviations above/below the mean."  For research purposes, not diagnostics.

Thanks!

Dear Corinna,
Yes, that is a  very important question.  The files in the comparison database are given in the eng_fp_kideal_db.cut in the CLAN/lib/kideval folder.  As the name suggests, the current database focus on comparison with other data on Fre Play.  Soon, we will also have a Narrative comparison database.

Nan Vernsteinb Ratner reminds us that this comparison data set has not yet been tested in terms of its value of clinical purposes, so please don't use it for that.  In fact, there are warning in KIDEVAL about this.
