Problem with coder mode

I've been having troubles using coder mode lately. Mostly happens that the spa tier appears before the main line and Ctrl+t command doesn't work.

Does it happens to anyone else?

Patricia,

Are you saying that spa tier in your transcript precedes main speaker tier? Or that coder mode inserts spa tier before main speaker tier instead of after? If it is the first case, then dependent tiers have to always follow main speaker tiers. If it is the second case, then coder's mode might have problem correctly identifying main speaker tiers. What system are you using, Mac Or Windows PC?

It would help if you could email to me the datafile that has this problem and the coder's file that you use. Also, please describe the steps you take that lead to the problem.

Hi, Leonid, 

this would be the second case. That happens when I use Ctr+t to code the next main line, while the Coder Mode is on. When I activated both Coder Mode and Chat Mode, Ctr+t worked fine. Another thing I had difficulty with was hiding the dependent %mor and %gra lines. They didn't hide. But this happened only to me in my lab team. Is it because I downloaded the CLAN version recently?  

I use Windows PC.

As you have noticed the Coder and CHAT mode have to be both on for ctrl-t to find the next speaker correctly.

I don't know the version of the App that you have, but the latest version of the App from 09-Aug-2020 has no problem hiding both %mor and %gar tiers. You need to use ESC-4 to open the dialog window where you can select check box to either show, hide or reset tiers and below you can list tiers. Again, the CHAT mode has to be on and make sure that the right check box is selected before you click OK button.

In the sample .cut file that you emailed there is line:

 "EVA

Did you mean to type:

 " $EVA
