Dear Leonid/Brian,

I have a file which has passed through CHECK and has also received the 'all words were found in the lexicon' message (after using the command mor @ +xb). However, when I then run MOR, I get the following messages within the output output:

lex-entry error: bad category specification for entry: @Window:

*** File "D:\talkbank\MOR\eng\prepost.cut": line 1.
Error: missing 'to' part in rule:
@Window: 85_241_1074_860_-1_-1_714_0_714_0

I have attached the CHA file so you know what I am working with.

Any help would be much appreciated.

With regards,

Cathy Lonngren-Sampaio

Cathy,

This is a new feature in CLAN that requires that when you update MOR grammar, then you have to also update the version of CLAN. MOR grammar and CLAN are functionally linked together, so sometimes both have to be updated at the same time. You just need to get latest version of CLAN from https://dali.talkbank.org/clan/ and the error will go away.

Thanks Leonid,

Just after sending you the email I did then check my version and it was 2020 and figured that might be the reason - sorry for wasting your time!
A question that I did have was about when downloading the new version of CLAN, am I right in saying it overwrites everything? I think I was worried about my WORK file being overwritten and perhaps that is why I hadn't already downloaded the newer version.
So basically, my question is what happens to the WORK file when we download new versions of CLAN?

Thank you,

Cathy

The CLAN installer only overwrites files that are distributed with CLAN. There are no files in WORK directory that are distributed. Anything that you create yourself and place in any of CLAN directories, including the WORK directory, will NOT be overwritten or changed in any way during CLAN updates.

Dear Cathy,
I’m afraid that this was a result of something I did yesterday.  It has nothing to do with your file.  It is about a line in the prepost.cut file that shouldn’t be there.  I had opened the prepost.cut file and saved it with CLAN and, unfortunately, CLAN always inserts a hidden line at the beginning of the file about Window position so that people can have the same window size the next time they open a file.  However, MOR doesn’t know anything about that line and complains when it sees it.
I fixed this in the attached version of prepost.cut.  You could replace yours or get a new version of CLAN and it should work okay.
