Hi everyone,

I have started using CLAN very recently and I am nowhere close to being knowledgeable so please bear with me if my question isn't clear and please let me know so I can try to clarify it.

I am trying to run mor @ +f but first there appears a warning window saying "Can't rename original file "file name". Perhaps it is opened by some application." And when this appears, all I can do is to click OK and when I do I get various warnings on the output page.  And after this it either gets rid of all the files in my working directory, or deletes them one by one. Attached you can find screenshots of the warning and the errors. I tried to change the file names and get rid of the +f command but it does not seem to help. I used mor @ +f on similar files previously and never had this problem before.

Many thanks

New versions of mor automatically overwrite and replace your original file, as though you used the switch +1; perhaps this is the problem? If you want to rename output, you may need to specify desired name of new file, rather than generic +f?

Birsu,

This is a bug. We have never tested MOR in a situation where original data files were in one directory and users wanted to send MOR output to another directory. I will try to fix this bug. If I succeed, then I will put a new fixed version of CLAN on childes web site later today.

Meanwhile you can set output and working directories to the same place and run MOR again. If you are worried about MOR destroying original files you can make a copy of those files first. Or if you do not want MOR to overwrite original files, then use -1 option. The +f option is not needed with MOR command.

Leonid.
