Hello all,

I have a question about marking a mispronounced Russian word, 'chto':

'chto' is pronounced as [shto] in Russian.

If the speaker pronounces 'chto' as [chto], how should I specify the phonological error or mispronunciation? Would the following make sense?

chto [: chto]

A note: We do not code errors/error types in our corpus, so there is no [*] or [* p] after the error.

I would appreciate your help!

Elnaz

Dear Elnaz,

You would want to use this form:

chto [: shto]

This indicates that the person said “chto” but that the target word was “shto”

If you were to code for error type, it would be chto [: shto] [* p]
