As CHAT is the "brainchild" of Leonid Spektor, I would like to be able to cite him in a proposal for a project that will rely in part on CHAT conventions -- but I cannot seem to find an appropriate reference (unlike I can for, say, CHILDES). Any recommendations for how to give due attribution to Spektor here? Thanks!

I am afraid CHAT and CLAN is Brian MacWhinney's brainchild, so please cite only him in regard to CHAT or CLAN.

Leonid.

As you wish -- but note that section 2.8 of Brian's most recent version of the CHAT manual does use that language in reference to you: "The CLAN program is the brainchild of Leonid Spektor." :) (I had misremembered it as a comment about CHAT, but there you have it!)

Thanks for the quick reply,
L

Oh, Leonid, enjoy a moment – you richly deserve it! I hope Brian told you how well received the new utilities (e.g., KidEval) were at IASCL, with a completely oversold set of pre-conference workshops.

With my own personal thanks to you as well as Brian,

Nan

I do enjoy it and I enjoy being part of this project and I certainly appreciate your recognition of my part in it.

Thank you,

Leonid~
