Splash-in Info

All,

     Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe an joyous holiday. Spring is just around the corner and we are already starting to plan a couple of splash-ins. I talked to Shannon, the owner of the Tiki Bar at Colonial Beach, she is still talking about our even from last fall and is looking forward to our return this year. Even though we had some tough conditions it was one of the biggest crowds she has seen and she would like to make the event even better this year.  We talked about having 2 events this year, an informal lunch splash-in this spring and another larger event late summer. Mike Pearson will be coordinating the events this year with her. Shannon has looked at the Colonial Beach events calendar and along with Mike have come up with 2 dates, May 30th and August 29th. Mike wanted me to ask the group if there would be any interest in making the 29th an over night event. We could arrange lodging and work with Colonial Beach and Shannon to promote it. Let me know your thoughts.

If there are other events in your area let us know so we can make sure we have participation to promote seaplanes throughout the mid-atlantic region.

     Several of us will be attending the Tavares event enroute to SnF. It is a really nice event hosted by the City of Tavares. Last year there were 40 aircraft in attendance, with numerous flying and social events panned for the weekend weather permitting. The website information and registration has not been posted, I usually get an early copy, if so I will notify the group so you can get early registration. We plan on arriving on the Friday March 27th and leaving on Monday the 30th. Lodging is somewhat limited, I have rented a house 2 blocks from the seaplane facility, let me know if you are interested in attending the event and need a place to stay. All costs will be shared.

     Looking forward to a short winter and safe flying season.

As for Essington/Philadelphia, assuming there is continued interest in this event, our best date for the tide is August 1, with rain date August 2. More to come.

    Sorry to say the Colonial Beach Splash-in scheduled for Saturday, August 29 is cancelled.  The Dockside Restaurant is unable to host us due to City of Colonial Beach COVID-19 rules.  We had hoped they would have been lifted, but have been advised we must cancel.

I send this message in memory of my friend from Florida saying goodbye over the phone 30 days ago. His name is John, and I will share his message.

" hey my friend good to hear your voice, please take care of yourself but remember to take care of the ones surrounding you, wear that mask it may not help you, but certainly it will help others, thanks for calling me I'm going to sleep now please call me later"

He died that afternoon at the age of 68 never smoke, never drink, no other health issues.

Yes I agree with you, something is wrong and the first thing I would do is start to change myself and stop thinking only about my money, my plane my family and myself, and start caring about my friends, my neighbors and especially my country.

I miss all you guys and wish we could have gotten together. Colonial Beach is a great place!

That said, everybody's afraid and safety has to come first. I truly wish the Democrats and the press would leave the current administration alone and let them get things done. If they really wanted to show a love of their country, they would roll up their sleeves and jump in and help him instead of fighting him every step of the way. I've never seen such childishness from those elected to serve us and not themselves.
