Seaplane Friends,

We’ve been hoping the SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19 epidemic would subside enough that our August 15 splash-in would be sufficiently safe. Alas, it apparently won’t.

So we’re going to follow the examples of the big guys—Sun-n-Fun, Oshkosh, Greenville, Triple Tree, and the others that have cancelled their events this year.

The 2020 splash-in is postponed until August 20, 2021.

In case we get a vaccine early this fall—or a miracle—we might try for a last-minute splash-in on October 24, 2020. Our weather is usually quite nice then.

There’s no sense in lamenting the ineptness of the U.S. government—but if you’re curious, here’s the most recent of many no-progress reports that have convinced us to cancel:  CLICK HERE     (We’re also in the 30% mortality age group, so that’s part of it, too.)

Hope does spring eternal, though:

2021 Fly-Ins and Splash-Ins
Apr 13-18 Sun ’n Fun
Jul 26-Aug 1 OSH
Aug 20 ours - the Taj Mahouse
Sep 9-12 Greenville
Sep 18-19 Hammondsport
Sep 23-26 Triple Tree

In the meantime, please stay safe and help keep everyone healthy.

= Don & Carol Maxwell

P.S.  A recent study of masks says a person not wearing a mask can spread droplets up to 8 feet:

Good to mitigate risk during these times. Just drove the campervan to Colorado and it was interesting to see the different levels of spread and concern. Western MD masks looked like a fashion accessory. Western Ohio only the clerks and I had masks. Everyone else looked at me very strange like your not from around here are ya?  Joining daughter in CO soon after a night camping at 10000 ft. Had a socially distanced morning hike with one brother and about to spend the night in my van at another brothers who may let me in to use the bathroom.

My daughter and I head to Wyoming and Montana in the morning.

Next year if not in October!  Thanks Don!
