Hi neighbors!
I’m getting my dryer vent cleaned soon and thought I’d share — the technician, Robert, is giving a group deal if a few of us book together.
It’s normally $249, but drops to $149 per household when three or more homes sign up. I’ve already booked mine, so we just need a couple more neighbors to join in!
If you’re interested, reach out to Robert at 202-703-0920 and mention my name for the group rate.

Two spots are still available. Would anyone like to join?

He also offers duct and chimney cleaning if you need it.

So sorry that this spammer is destroying the group for all.

Does this group even still exist?  Have we met in recent months?  Are we reading and discussing books in common, or anything else?

I was just thinking that I need to reread my permaculture books and to learn more about regenerative gardening.  I've had a raised-bed garden for years, but although I do "interplant" and so on, it still feels as though I'm monocropping.  And in the last two years I haven't been able to keep up with things, and my garden is being invaded by some tall grasses that overwhelmed my squash plants.  Hired a guy to dig 'em up, and they grew right back.  Part of me wants to give up on having a defined garden, and to try growing the foods I want among the natural stuff... part of me thinks we're all going to have to depend on whatever we can grow for our own use and for bartering for things we can't grow, in the near future.  I would welcome suggestions (or even physical help; I am 77.5 and not so energetic as I used to be, after all).

What a nice thought for the new year!  Excuse the sarcasm, because you may very well be right about this coming year.  But yeah, you can grow a lot of stuff intermingled with some weeds and/or keep the weeds down with cardboard and wood chips applied at the beginning of the season.  I can't claim to be an expert gardener, though.  That's just what I have sometimes done or seen.

As for Jessie Kyle: I removed this person or entity from the group about a week ago.  I don't remember how he got added originally.  Sorry it took so long, I know it's annoying.

There is someone else pending approval right now, who sounds genuinely interested in permaculture, gardening, and "homesteading".

I'd like to resurrect this group and the activities that we used to do.  Ideally we'd get some of those younger people coming up in the group, too, and do more site tours, potlucks, and presentations on a wide variety of issues related to sustainable, resilient, healthy, and natural living.  Maybe we start with a potluck to just bring people back together again and have some discussions/updates?  If we all make an effort to invite one new person as well, it could be a great start.

But Happy New Year to all!  Deeply, meaningfully, and hopefully.

Patrick

Happy New Year, all! I am a new member as of December - I found the group when going down a Google rabbit hole of natural building in Chelsea. I'm currently looking for some land/a home in the area. I would love to join in on potluck and other 2026 activities and meet like minded individuals!

Best,
Colleen

I think it would be nice to have a few pot lucks, with maybe a designated topic. Let’s change the Subject of this email  thread though!
