Dear Checkstyle mentors,
My name is Eduard Gal, and I am a second-year Computer Science student at the Politehnica University of Bucharest. I am very interested in participating in Google Summer of Code with the Checkstyle organization because I want to deepen my experience in Java and contribute to a widely used open-source project.
During my studies, I have been working mainly with Java and object-oriented programming. I enjoy writing clean, maintainable code and understanding how static analysis tools help improve software quality, which is why Checkstyle particularly interests me.
I have worked on two larger personal and academic projects. The first project was an internal ticket management system for an IT company, designed to organize and track tasks, requests, and issue workflows between team members. This project required designing a structured backend.
The second project is a game called "TerraBot". In this project I focused on implementing the game mechanics and automation logic.
Through Google Summer of Code, I want not only to improve my technical skills but also to learn how large open-source projects are maintained and developed collaboratively. I am motivated to contribute consistently, communicate with mentors, and learn the internal architecture of Checkstyle so that I can implement meaningful improvements.
