Hi Amy,
I agree entirely with Greg.
My “best practice” backup strategy would be a triumvirate.
1) Have a daily backup onsite (using 2 external hard drives)
This should be every 2nd day (Mon, Wed, Fri) & (Tues, Thurs)
This means that should the worst happen - you’re less than 24 hours away from recovery
2) Have a weekly offsite backup - (using 1 external hard drive)
This should be used only in the case of failure in the daily backup
3) Cloud Backup
This should be used only in the event of the worst happening - failure in both Daily and Weekly backup
To answer your question simply - I use Backblaze, (
www.backblaze.com) which is a paid for service (about €6.20/month) - however… it gives unlimited storage and the ability to restore a single file (rather than a whole drive)
Beware online storage that is free - often you pay the price by having to restore the WHOLE drive/backup rather than a single file…
Depending on your needs - I also wholly agree with Paul - you can use Google Drive (GSuite for EDU) which gives unlimited storage for education users. (there have been rumblings that this may change as it has for Business users - but not yet)
Many thanks!
Chris
