Hello all,

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. While digital accessibility for all is an everyday concern, a special day to highlight resources and approaches does a lot to highlight simple changes that can affect our practice.

The GAAD website has some resources to help you get started whatever platform or operating system you happen to be using.

There are also some wonderful lessons and courses from AHEAD available on their Moodle for a digital badge: ARK - Accessibility Resources and Know-How

Personally, I love a podcast. You can listen to our Trevor Boland on a recent episode of the Think UDL podcast with Lillian Nave

Does anyone have any favourite or helpful resources to share with colleagues in this thread? What is your approach?

Best wishes,

Kate

My base line is using Alt Txt. Every image should have it. An image is not a complete without it.

It took a while to develop the habit of not forgetting to add it, but now it is second nature.

I don't need to use a screen reader but I like reading Alt Txt others have added to their images on the socials. (Incidentally, Xwitter and Insta were notoriously bad for Alt Txt, but the Mastodaoine the fediverse are good at it, very few images don't have their wee ALT tag in the corner).

Happy GAAD everyone, Mags
