Hello all,
Looking for opinions on what people would regard as the best to purchase,
.30 Chromebooks OR 30 Laptops.
We are planning to use the devices to support students with LC Projects and
CBAs and already have Office 365 platform access in the school.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Paddy Campbell

Hi Patrick,
We are a primary school and a so-called 'Google School' so the Chromebooks were a no -brainer for us. Not sure if you have LC projects to run though.

Hi Paddy,

If your school has already gone down the Microsoft route then it might be advisable to go with Windows laptops. Chromebooks are a no-brainer for any school using Google Workspace as the pupils will already have their own Google accounts set up which can be used to login to the chromebooks.

It is technically possible to sign into chromebooks using microsoft accounts, but it takes some setup. See here - https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/12103994?hl=en

I would advocate for Chromebooks as the best  general purpose device for most schools. However if these students are using this for LC CS and you have 365 as your platform I would say the windows devices are a better option.

Some of the interfacing with embedded systems is really hard on chrome OS. While chrome can run standalone software like IDEs via Linux container it will be much easier on a windows device.
