Hi there,
We just purchased a few laptops for teachers and I am ready to distribute them. However I thought I would check that they connect to our Activboards first. I have downloaded the latest activdriver software but the laptop or board isn’t recognizing it therefore no pen activity. I have display and sound. I have uninstalled, unplugged etc and the following appears in the settings/device manager:-
Windows cannot verify they digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent  hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source(Code 52)

Any advice would be appreciated

There's a couple of possible solutions,
It depends on which Promethean IWB you have.
If you currently have any working laptop/PC that connects ok then I'd suggest you go into the ActivManager control panel (while connected to IWB)and under hardware tab check to see if there is a firmware update available.
Another option is to check disable drive signature check in windows startup.

Feel free to get in touch and we may be able to resolve over the phone.

Hi Aisling,
I'm not an expert and I don't know te answer to your question but I've been on a steep learning curve with activinspire recently.Since windows 10 a lot of laptops with activinspire had a blue screen problem(laptop would just go to a blue screen mid lesson and have to be shut down )Promethean issued a firmware update to fix this.(As I'm not connected to my board now i'll do my best to remember the steps to apply the fix!)
On the bottom right of your laptop click on the little up arrow(it's to the left of my battery icon)
Then click on 'control panel'
Click on the activinspire icon.
On the table which appears click on'firmware' and click on update.

I had a further issue when I applied this fix as my activinspire was crashing regularly.Promethean were so helpful and they took remote control of my laptop to solve this problem. The solution was to uninstall the 'activdriver' totally! So my board is just running on the 'activinspire software!
When you apply this fix you can no longer calibrate your board by hovering over the promethean flame icon .
You have to click on the activinspire icon at the bottom right and then click on calibrate.

This is the link to the promethean support page re upgrading to the new firmware

Hi Colin,
Many thanks for your advice. Updating the firmware using the old laptop worked.
Regards,
Aisling
