Sad news for us coding Googlers - CS First is on its way to the Google Graveyard: https://killedbygoogle.com/

Some great resources there, I am hoping to capture as much of it as I can to use with the MIT Scratch before it heads to its eternal resting place.

If you have it in your planning for next you may need to think again!

Hi CS First Teachers,

Since the launch of CS First in 2013, we've been inspired by your passion for computer science education. Together, we've empowered countless learners, sparking creativity and fostering innovation. Today, we want to let you know that CS First will no longer be available after June 30, 2025.

Google will continue to support CS education through collaborations with partners who are developing accessible and engaging computer science education for all learners. Over the next three years, Google is pleased to support the Raspberry Pi Foundation in the development of Experience CS, which the Foundation is committed to making available to teachers in time for the 2025/2026 school year. Experience CS will provide Scratch-based learning units in a scaffolded learning environment for students aged 8-14 and will always be freely available.
What does this mean for you?
Access: The current CS First website will remain active until June 30, 2025. After that date, you will not be able to access the website.
Account & Data: After June 30, 2025 all CS First data on the website will be permanently deleted.
Projects and data: You can save CS First projects by moving them to a personal Scratch account and download course data as a JSON file.
Explore: Consider signing up for Raspberry Pi Foundation's new curriculum, Experience CS and be the first to hear when it's available.
For more information and to address any questions, please refer to our FAQs.
Thank you again for being a part of the CS First community!

Very sad indeed Conor…

It was a fantastic set of clear, easy-to-use resources that anyone could get stuck in to.

I was genuinely distressed when I saw the mails this evening.

RIP.

They are putting their efforts into Experience CS by Raspberry Pi, maybe that will be more sustainable. They also have some great materials. I can't see it having the same tight integration with classroom though.

Also Applied Digital Skills is getting similar treatment. There must have been some review of offerings:

Important Update

Hi Applied Digital Skills Community,

Since 2017, Google's Applied Digital Skills has helped equip teachers and learners with essential technology skills for our ever evolving digital world.

To continue providing the best possible experience, we're happy to announce that Applied Digital Skills lessons will be moving to a new Google for Education learning platform on June 30, 2025. This new platform will house the best of Google's teacher and student learning content, and the existing Applied Digital Skills website will no longer be available after this date.

What does this mean for you?

Account & Data: You can continue to access your account and use Applied Digital Skills normally until the transition date. After June 30th, all accounts and data will be deleted. If you’d like to retain any account information, you can download your data, then you’ll be able to create a new account when the new platform is live.

Lessons & Materials: While our most popular lessons will be migrated to the new platform, if you'd like, you may consider downloading materials from your favorite lessons like lesson videos, lesson plans, rubrics, or certificates before the transition date.

Dashboard: The current teacher and student dashboard will not be available on the new website. If needed, we encourage users to leverage the power of Google Classroom or your favorite LMS to easily share lesson links with your students.

You will receive additional details regarding the transition in the coming months. For more information and questions, please refer to our Help Center.

Thank you for your continued support!

The Applied Digital Skills Team
