Hello Everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Cerambot after assembly and firmware installation. I didn't receive any errors during the Marlin firmware upload and have tried the adjustment knob on the display. I can get the display to show up completely clear but not solidly lit with characters. Have tried with everything but the LCD connectors attached. Any suggestions, comments or help greatly appreciated.

That looks like it might be a few things...

1. It could be a marlin configuration issue...
2. one or both of the lcd cables might be bad....
3. the lcd unit might be bad
4. the ramps lcd daughter adapter board might be bad
5. the issue might be on the ramps board itself...

1 >Are you using marlin 2 or 1? do you have the correct configuration files for your version? if you are using marlin 2, did you upload it using Platform.io? I've heard Arduino IDE wont work on marlin 2.

2 >Try swapping the two lcd ribbon cables (EX1 and EXP2) at both ends... (they are correct at both ends right?)
if the EXP2 cable is bad it can keep the lcd from working properly...

3/4/5> know anybody with a spare Ramps/LCD Adapter/LCD of the same kind? another cermabot user? buy a spare set off amazon?
These are commonly used on some 3d printers, maybe a makerspace or somplace to go and test it out? Where are you at, maybe another person here is close?

I hope that helps...

Thanks Jeff.

It looks like I'm using Marlin 2 as that's what it says in the Marlin window of Arduino 1.8.1. This was uploaded via the firmware 20190730-version posted on GitHub. If there's any installation deviation from the CERAMBOT wiring and firmware upload.pdf I probably missed it?

I'll try swapping cables tonight and see if that has any effect. Will also try 1 at a time. I might have one or should be able to find another for testing.

Anyone here in Oklahoma City playing?

Thanks!

If you downloaded it from cerambots GitHub geta fresh download from marlinfw.org. There's problems with the cerbot firmware

Thank you everyone for responses thus far. I recently found a version of marlin 1.0.2-2 and uploaded that. The LCD came on solid now but I can't get any characters. If I turn the back dial I can get blanks where some characters might be but no text. If I push in the turn dial everything goes black and I have to hit the power button on the daughter board. If I have EXP 2 plugged in it's very finicky and shuts down a lot, again having to press the power button on the daughter board to get light on the lcd. Does anyone have a 1.X version of the cerambot firmware? I’ll try that before replacing the LCD and/or board.

DO NOT use the firmware from Cerambta GitHub. It never worked and I've used the one from marlinfw.org and posted update config files that are verified to work on the Facebook group site.
