There are reports that Giannis is saying he'll only re-sign with Miami if traded. So I went to the trade machines and played around to see what the best trade Milwaukee could get from Miami for Giannis.  It would look something like Tyler Herro, Kelel Ware, Davion Mitchell, Miami's 1st round picks in 26, 29, 31, and 33, and pick swaps in 28, 30, and 32. I don't think that really fits what Miami is looking for since they can't tank themselves not owning their own picks and thus are more in need of players than picks, but if no other team is willing to take the risk of trading for Giannis and watching him walk that's likely the best offer they'll get.

The Angels did not get anything for Ohtani.

Ohtani left as a free agent.

Yes.  In response to what you wrote:  " but if no other team is willing to take the risk of trading for Giannis and watching him walk that's likely the best offer they'll get. "  The Angels did not accept anything for him while he was still playing for them and then ended up with nothing.  Bucks could end up doing the same.

They could, but what would be the point of that? They can't contend next year with him.

Just pointing out that the Angels did it with an even greater talent.  Younger and one of the tops in his sport.

I guess they had the illusion that they might be able to re-sign him. I don't think Milwaukee is still laboring under that misconception.

They were operating under the assumption that they could still make the play-offs in 2023.  Here is where they stood on July 31, 2023.  Only 4.5 games out of first place in the division.

Also we never know how the Bucks WILL play as a team next year.  The Celtics certainly surprised all with how they played this year.
