Dear all,

I would like to know how to add to the CDLI corpus some cuneiform texts from different Spanish collections that I have published. I have also edited a BM tablet which is already indexed at CDLI but without any transliteration, translation nor secondary bibliography.

Many thanks for your attention and, in advance, help!

Dear Daniel,

Thank you for the inquiry! If you have not already seen it, we published a small primer in Mar Shiprim last year about using and contributing to the CDLI (reference below), which includes sections on setting up a user account, adding new records and editing existing ones. Hopefully that helps.

Rattenborg, Rune, and Émilie Pagé-Perron. 2025. “The Cuneiform Digital Library Initiative: A Primer.” The International Association for Assyriology, May 14. https://iaassyriology.com/the-cuneiform-digital-library-initiative-a-primer/.

Do let me know if you need further input on any of it. You can also submit formal issues to cdli-s...@ames.ox.ac.uk if you experience any problems when editing records.

Best regards. R.

Sorry, it's extremely difficult and slow for me to add any single information on CDLI. The primer does not help me that much. Everything is much easier on eBL...

- How can I add a journal? I know how to add a journal article, but only one among the list of journals provided by CDLI. I want to include my paper https://www.jstor.org/stable/27395226, which was published in Egitto e Vicino Oriente (EVO).

- How long should I wait for the approval of my updates? Several of them are related to an archaeological item. However, I cannot include it, as my update for a new collection has not been approved yet, and the update on my paper publishing it is also pending.

- I am unable to add this text (https://www.ebl.lmu.de/library/BM.32979) to this entry (https://cdli.earth/artifacts/557197). Where I should specify the item I want to relate my transliteration to here?

Many thanks for your help. Kind regards,
Daniel

Dear Daniel,

1) Users with regular crowdsourcing privileges are not able to add new records to http://cdli.earth/journals, only bulk uploads and individual records to https://cdli.earth/publications. This is noted in the primer (section 7.2). I have added the journal you requested now - see https://cdli.earth/journals/311

2) Editorial responses at CDLI are generally made within days, depending on the nature of the submission and the availability of editors. Please note that editors at CDLI contribute their time and effort on a voluntary basis. If you wish to add interrelated records (say, artifact, provenience, collection, and similar), you will need to first submit and have confirmed parent records (for example a collection or a publication) before child records (an artifact). You are more than welcome to get in touch if in need of assistance on this.

3) It is not clear to me what the issue with adding the transliteration is? If asking for the format of the C-ATF, please refer to http://oracc.museum.upenn.edu/doc/help/editinginatf/cdliatf/index.html for further instructions.

Please review https://cdli.earth/artifacts-updates/1094250 and confirm that the measurements (which should be given in millimeter, not centimeter) are correct.

If experiencing issues with upload or editorial approval or similar, I would generally recommend writing to cd...@ames.ox.ac.uk. This group is intended as a user forum for editors and users to help each other and discuss questions relating to the CDLI, not technical support as such.

Best. R.
