Hello all,
We're going to start offering EDUC 250 on our campus next spring (2027), and so I remixed a few amazing OER textbooks in order to compile/create my own...

A PDF version and the Word version are here:

Hello all,

Hope everyone is doing well. I am reaching out to ask if anyone knows OER textbooks or other materials for a course titled "Globalization, Society and Education”, with course description below

This course examines the relationship between education and broader social, economic, and political forces through an analysis of the complexities of globalization. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on perspectives from sociology, philosophy, politics, geography, history, economics, management, and comparative studies as applied to education and related fields.

The course explores a range of topics, including:

  • The impact of globalization on education and training in specific countries, regions, and institutions;
  • The roles and influences of global organizations (e.g., the World Bank, OECD, and UNESCO), regional organizations (e.g., the European Union, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and North American Free Trade Agreement), and non-governmental organizations;
  • Globalization, education, and “development”;
  • Globalization and language;
  • Lifelong learning and the knowledge-based economy;
  • Globalization, education, and cultural transformation;
  • Changing labor markets, workforce mobility, skills development, and education;
  • Migration, mobility, and education;
  • Emerging institutional forms;
  • Education as a global commodity/service;
  • Social movements, labor movements, and changing strategies for social transformation.
Thank you very much in advance!

Sincerely,
Lingyu Li

Hi Lingyu,

There is a chapter on global perspectives in the new book Foundations of Education: Cultivating Diverse Perspectives, Revised Edition by Ceci De Valdenebro and Tanya Mead.

FYI,
Amy
