Hi everyone!

The RIOS Institute invites anyone interested to attend our 'Brew & Banter' session on Dec 3, from 4pm-5pm ET where we are featuring the one and only, Lance Eaton!
Teaching in Stereo: How Open Education Gets Louder with AI

This event is FREE, you just need to register.

Lance Eaton will explore how open education and artificial intelligence can work together to expand access, creativity, and student agency in teaching and learning. Participants will examine how AI tools can help locate, adapt, and co-create openly licensed materials that reduce student costs and foster deeper engagement. Through a blend of framing discussion and hands-on experimentation, attendees will explore three practical entry points:

  • Using AI to discover and curate OER content responsibly

  • Designing simple “Tutor Bots” grounded in open and legally shareable knowledge

  • Collaboratively developing classroom policies and projects that amplify open pedagogy through AI

The session will clarify key issues of copyright, attribution, and fair use, while inviting participants to test ideas within their own courses. By the end, participants will leave with concrete strategies for integrating AI and OER in ways that are ethical, empowering, and aligned with their values.

Please forward to any interested colleagues, all are welcome.

Hope to see you there!

Karen
