Good day to All

Has anyone had to replace, or ever, remove their hot water tank? My pressure relief valve has locked open and will not shut. I have sprayed with the best penetrating oils with no luck of removing the old one. It was suggested that I install a new one on the outtake of the broken one for our trip. The problem with that was the threads are too close to the tank and I was not able to get the threads to start.

I replaced mine last year as it had rotted out. This is a drop in replacement for my boat https://defender.com/en_us/seaward-marine-water-heater-with-rear-heat-exchanger. I was able to re-use the fittings.

It was a 2-3 hour job to remove and re-install with someone in the transom for a good amount of that time. When removing the radiator hoses you will lose some coolant. I plumbed the together while I was doing the replacement so as to not lose too much. However you will lose coolant that is in the hot water tank. I didn't think it was that much and even after I thought I topped off the coolant, after I ran it for a while I had to add more (beeeeeeeeeeep!!!!)

Hi guys
My hot water tank relief valve let go and start putting water everywhere. I replaced it with a relief valve off of an electric hot water tank.
As the electric hot water tanks, have a longer neck on them to go through the insulation
It was tough to change, but I didn’t have that much of a problem

I put a pipe wrench to it and the brass on the valve was scraping off.
You can’t heat it up. Too close to the tank.
