To whom it may concern,
I am a resident doctor in Italy, and I am currently working with data from the cBioPortal database.

I am trying to determine whether the subgroup labeled simply as “Meningioma” contains exclusively grade 1 tumors or whether it may also include higher-grade tumors. This is not entirely clear to me, as there are separate categories for grade 2 and grade 3 meningiomas.

The large size of the “Meningioma” subgroup makes me think that it may predominantly, or possibly exclusively, represent grade 1 tumors, since these are by far the most common. Moreover, the survival analyses seem to support this assumption. Nevertheless, I wanted to double-check this point with you.

If this is not the case, is there any way to cross-check which tumors in this group are benign, grade 1 tumors? Also, would it be possible to access the original files or more detailed annotations from the submitting centers?

Thank you very much for your collaboration and for your great efforts toward this important resource.

Best regards,
Matteo Palermo

Dear Matteo,

Unfortunately we do not have any additional information about these cases from the GENIE dataset.

Niki.
