Grateful for any guidance on transporting a 2018 wing keel 355 by road from Florida to Maine. I get different responses from trucking companies as to whether the stanchions need to be removed (some say no, some say yes).

Any feedback on experience with road transportation (do's/ dont's) greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Frank

Call Sharon at Catalina Yachts. I am sure she will tell you who they use.

Mine came with stanchions from New Jersey and it traveled there from St Petersburg, FL
Trailer used looks identical to one in picture and it is obvious that it was designed for a sailboat transfer, including the mast holder on port side of trailer.
Not sure, if it would work with other than wing keel as it adds 2-3 ft in height???

Hi HVB.

Do you by any chance have a reasonable height estimate from the bottom of the wing keel to the stanchions.  I am told that it road transport regs limit the height to 13’6” and I am told to take the stanchopns off.

Grateful for any advice

Thanks

FC

I brought my 355 up from Florida via truck and we did not have to remove anything other than the dodger.  A photo of the trailer setup they used is attached.

I transported a 355 with a wing keel from Texas to St Pete Florida with no problem.
The only thing that came down was the mast. The subject of taking off the stanchions
 never came up.

Frank, my boat #80 was transported by Catalina from Florida to southern California via truck and stanchons were intact attached not removed. I am in socal waters so my keel is not wing but standard full length
