Once again, it is time for our annual 'sneak one in before Daylight Saving time begins' star party at the park.

I will be setting up in the upper lot adjacent to the main park entrance. Who can join me?

I am already committed for the Star Gazing at the Indian school at that time.

Get-up early to-morrow for the Mars occultation!

I'm a definitely maybe. If my nose behaves, I'm in.

I may need a quick refresher in telescope use, it's been months...

FM,  Wasn't the Academy of Arts and Technology (across the street from the indian school) scheduled for tonight?  I'm not sure because I have a horrible cold and the last three days are kind of missing.

It's just like riding...oh, never mind, I still keep falling off. It's like using a knife and fork...Oh crap, I've forgotten that, too.  Now I have to go double check the date of the Indian/academy tour.  What's a telescope?  I'm soooo confused.

Well, apparently people are seeing the CALL FOR SCOPES, respectfully I need to get back on topic.

I understand some are already planning on alternate events for 2/28 (didn’t know about any of it)

So far, it seems Jim, F-M and ? are regrets only.

Who can join me?

Sorry, Peter,
I am also already committed to the Academy tour and won't back out of that one, at this point.  It might not be a bad idea to get on the Stargazers list so you know what they are doing.

You could also ask TAAS, some of their members are in Santa Fe

Subject: RE: CALL FOR SCOPES - Cerrillos Hills State Park - Friday February 28th 7PM

Don’t expect anyone to back out of another commitment. I selected this date for the park in December. Stargazers list is a good idea. I am happy to know that there are more outreach opportunities, but still need help for Cerrillos.

Thanks for the suggestion F-M

I am happy to know that there are more outreach opptys for stargazing in Santa Fe.

Some context below that may be useful:

In January, I referred Gabriel and ATC to Santa Fe Stargazers for assistance to plan a school outreach as I was/am less available than I would like to be.

I plan park events a quarter at a time and in December chose 2/28 as date for the Cerrillos Hills State Park spring event. I based this choice on some of the same factors (moon phase - daylight saving time looming - weekend night) that guided Stargazers and ATC. I followed the same timeline to announce CALL FOR SCOPES as in the past ~10 to 14 days notice.

I certainly appreciate everyone's interest to get out to schools again. And I would be grateful for any support. At this point, I am still solo lobo AFAIK.

Who can join me?

Peter ----------------  The Santa Fe Stargazers met last Wednesday, and discussed this unfortunate conflict in schedules.  I agreed to cancel with the ATC event and to join you on Friday.  We SFS types feel that all public outreach is important, and we have enough scopes for the ATC event.  You have already heard this from others, but just to make sure we don't have this happen again, I would urge you to keep in contact with Tom Aldern, the Chair of the Stargazers' Outreach Committee, and/or Sam Finn, our SFS President.

What time do you want me at Cerrillos Hills on Friday evening?  Or more accurately, when can I arrive and start setting up on Friday evening?  I hope that John Bau can join us.  Thanks.

When I went out to do my WX report (check my catch and view the sky) it had cleared up except for the normal haze and light pollution.  I noticed a small, but fairly bright meteor go east about halfway between Arcturus and Spica for a distance of about 5 full moons (10 arc degrees) about half a second.
