For a couple months now I wanted to create basic Capistrano3 screencast(s) and now I finally have some time for that.
Screencasts could be useful for beginners.

I don't have my own blog so ideally I would want to link to the video from http://capistranorb.com/screencasts
Lee, your approval is needed for this, what do you say?

I have English accent. To check if this is acceptable you can see my other non-related screencasts https://vimeo.com/brunosutic

For the first screencast I was thinking of using plugins heavily + doing minimal setup.
In fact, I created a small tutorial that describes these steps and outlines the application stack I was having in mind.

I'm not sure what do about server provisioning. Should that be mentioned, described or shown separately?

Let me know your thoughts!

Hi Bruno,

Let me get back to you, and give some feedback once I can watch a screencast from you, make sure it's in the style I can live with, but it sounds good. In theory :)

Hi Bruno,

Sorry it took me foreverrrrrrr to get back to you. In the time it took me to reply, the people from http://dvcreators.net/about/ actually contacted me to request permission to do a set of videos, they're going to Google-Hangout me sometime next week, I'll keep you informed, but I think I'm going to do it.

Regarding the /screencasts URL, I think that's a great idea, I've wanted to do a few for a while, and never gotten around to it.

I think it would be wise to split the server provisioning (because there's simply so, so many ways to do it) into another video, or series of videos. I'd love to see in the future content about driving Puppet and Chef (solos) by using Capistrano, and also perhaps how to use Docker with Capistrano as well.

Please, crack-on, and just send me a PR when there's something you'd like me to put online.

Also, thanks - it's great to see you active on GH, and taking an interest, and really improving the community, and I particularly find education about Cap, deployment, and server stuff to be hugely valuable.

Thanks, have a great weekend (what's left), and I look forward to talking.

Hi Lee,
It's good to hear some positive feedback - thank you!

Wow, the http://dvcreators.net/ deal seems high profile - let us know what comes out of it.

About splitting the server provisioning from the Capistrano deployment: yes, you are right - this definitely needs to be split.
I'm currently working on the simplest possible Chef cookbook that I can use on the screencast.
This might seem like reinventing the wheel, but actually I couldn't find the appropriate Chef cookbook for rails that doesn't presume *the deployment* will also be done with Chef.

Anyway, once again thanks for the encouragement, and I hope to have something to show in the next couple weeks.

Bruno
